Kandi Goggles

The following page contains information on how to best care for your Dirty Catz Kandi Goggles and their Lenses!

You will see this over and over in the following topics, but plain old water and a mild dish soap are pretty much your best friends for all my care methods!

Goggle Canisters
If your goggle canisters are made from plain beads (ie no special finishes like gold/silver plating or hand painted galaxy glitter), you may do a light cleaning with dish soap and water, or for stubborn spots you may choose to use a diluted solution of 1 part rubbing alcohol to 4 parts water. For both options, I recommend using either a soft cloth or a soft bristled toothbrush to gently scrub your goggles. Use a circular motion and do not be afraid to work the bristles between the beads to get any dirt loose, but do not use excessive pressure. Use cool water only. If your mask does not have any attached electric components (like permanently attached lights) then you can fully submerge your goggles in water to both clean and rinse them.

Lenses, Resin
Resin is a durable material and can withstand being dropped, smacked, handled roughly, etc without breaking. Lenses made from resin are very sturdy and resistant to a lot of abuse! They can be scratched, however, so care must be taken not to drop them on overly abrasive surfaces like pavement.

To clean them, please use only a damp soft cloth and some water, with or without soap if you need it. They can be submerged in water to be cleaned and rinsed.

Please do not use chemicals or solvents to clean resin lenses.

Lenses, Perler
Perler lenses are lightweight and resilient. I have only made a few pairs of goggles with perler lenses but their clean up is just as easy as can be! To clean, wipe them down with a damp soft cloth, with or without soap. These can be submerged in water to clean and rinse.

Lenses, Glitter
As with the perler lenses, I have only made a few Glitter lenses before moving on to a different, more durable method. Glitter lenses have a 3D printed base which has been coated in glue before having glitter layered over top, then sealed with 3 coats of an acrylic glaze. The result is a super sparkly flat glitter lens! To clean, wipe them down with a damp soft cloth, with or without soap. These can be submerged in water to clean and rinse.

Gems, Spikes, & Pearls
Embellishments like gems, spikes, and pearls, no matter where they are placed on the goggles, require very little in the way of cleaning. To clean, wipe them down with a damp soft cloth, with or without soap. These can be submerged in water to clean and rinse.
